“I am the youngest of 6 boys. In addition to outstanding parents, my greatest assets were my 5 older brothers. They were my role models and challenged me to always strive for excellence. At Duke, I founded a chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters so it’s nice to come full circle to now be participating in DWTS for this organization. Our collective future is linked to the success of our children and supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters is a great way to contribute to that success.”

- Michael

“I feel honored and humbled to participate in this fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia and fully support their mission to provide positive support to children in our area.”  Samantha is partnering with Dr. Michael Diminick, as they travel back in time to the disco days of “Stayin’ Alive.” (This is Samantha’s third year participating)

Jessica Andrews - Choreographer

“We didn't say "YES" because we know how to dance, we can tell you that! We said yes because Lynchburg is home, and "home" to us is about community and relationships. BBBS serves a vital, irreplaceable role in Central Virginia, transforming the lives of many local kids through lasting relationships. So, we are willing to put two left feet and pride aside to help raise support for this amazing organization!”

Partner and Choreographer

”My daughter and I are huge fans of dance and civic engagement.  When we heard about this event we couldn’t have been more excited about the opportunity to share her love of dance and my love of community in such a passionate way.  Meredith is both my partner and choreographer and we are the first father daughter team to compete.  The real competition though is about raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters, an organization that is so instrumental at supporting children who are less fortunate.  Please consider donating money by voting for us.  We want to be the first father daughter team to raise the most money in support of this great organization.  The only way we raise money, is if you vote!”

Caroline Harvey Henderson

Theo coates - Choreographer

As a native “Lynchburger” and a strong believer in supporting good causes, Caroline didn’t hesitate to agree to participate in this year’s Dancing with the Lynchburg STARS. “When my brother Dodd and Dawn called, I thought to myself… I love kids, I love all kinds of people, I love giving back to the community and of course for anyone that knows me ...I LOVE to dance!” Caroline and her husband Max have been married for 27 years and have two sons, Max Jr. (22) and Caid (19). Caroline would like to dedicate this performance In Memory of her mother Betsy Ann Harvey. “Mom would be so excited that I’m doing this. She never missed a Monday night of Dancing with the STARS!”

- Caroline

“Being a Physical Therapist and Partner at Rehab Associates of Central Va has allowed me to serve the public for 31 years. Getting the privilege to participate in the Dancing with the Stars fund raiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Va, I thought, was just another great opportunity to give back to our Lynchburg community. It was appealing to me because 100% of the money raised goes directly to this Lynchburg based organization and stays in our community.”  Born and raised in West Virginia, John is a die-hard West Virginia Mountaineer fan!  He and his wife Mary have been married for 30 years and have 3 children, Matt (28), Mike (25) and Caroline (19). “Dancing with Caroline has been a blast and quite the adventure. We are in a constant state of laughter, have a lot of fun and both love to dance. How could my inner Bruno Mars say NO!

- John

“For most people that know me, they know that I am a very outgoing person and passionate about raising awareness for businesses and non-profits in our area. Being able to be a part of the Lynchburg Dancing with the Stars gave me the opportunity to raise money for a Non-profit that I believe very strongly in and have FUN at the same time.     While I have NEVER professionally danced a day in my life, I decided to step out of my comfort zone completely and try something new.  I now realize that I have muscles that I didn’t know existed.”

“It’s honor to be nominated to perform in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Dancing with the Lynchburg Stars. BBBS of Central Virginia means putting smiles on the faces of children who need extra love, and a little assist in growing up.

I would appreciate your vote as I have exactly zero dancing experience, and when I do dance, people usually just stare and get out their phones to shoot video. Yeah, I’m that guy! I’m hoping to learn how to not dance badly.”

Genette Dahlby - CHOREOGRAPHER

At last year’s DWTS event, I was in the audience cheering the dancers on.  What a fun event it proved to be, and all for such a worthy cause!  This year, I have  stepped COMPLETELY OUTSIDE OF MY COMFORT ZONE to join the actual dancers on stage.  I have no dance experience (and apparently little or no coordination skills, if our practice sessions are any indication).  However, I am still honored to be part of this exciting event.   Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Virginia is a vital part of what makes our community great.  We are neighbors helping neighbors, mentors reaching out to children who can benefit from additional guidance that may not otherwise be there.  We grow our next generation of community citizens by nurturing our children of today.  Big Brothers/Big  Sisters does all of that and more.  Please join us in supporting that cause.  AND - - - Rufus, Genette and I would LOVE to have your vote!  It will be a vote in honor of mentoring, courage, and new experiences!

- Jan

Choreographing for Dancing with the Lynchburg Stars has become a tradition for Genette as this is her 5th year and hoping for a 2nd trophy for her couple, Jan Walker and Rufus Chappell. She believes whole heartily in Big Brothers, Big Sisters as she has been a Big in the past and saw the benefit in the program in her Little and in herself.

“When we were asked to represent Pacific Life in this year’s Dancing with the Lynchburg Stars, we didn’t hesitate to say yes.  What a fun way to support a GREAT local organization!  Big Brothers Big Sisters does a fantastic job working with our local youth through their mentorship programs, and we are proud and excited to help BBBS and to be a part of this year’s event.  Please VOTE for us and join us in supporting the children of Central Virginia and Big Brothers Big Sisters!”

Michael Richmond

Anesthesiologist, Central Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery/Lynchburg Aesthetics & Wellness

Amy Richmond

Juli Wingfield - CHOREOGRAPHER

“Why we said yes? Our lives are so busy taxiing kids to school & various activities that we thought this opportunity would be a great way for us to schedule time together. We both love dancing and we love that this event is a fundraiser for such an amazing organization!

Vote for us because our decade choice is THE BEST!! From Madonna to Moonwalking to Mullets, the 1980s saw an evolution in music and dance that we hope to capture through our performance. As you hear the songs we’ve chosen, we know that you won’t be able to resist singing & dancing along, as the nostalgia of times gone by reminds you to DON’T STOP BELIEVING!!”
